Project Description
As a primary gateway connecting the North Shore to Vancouver and Burnaby, Phibbs Exchange is a site defined by movement. Our design for the transit hub’s two new service buildings—dedicated to transit operations and a new retail node—embraces this context through simple, resilient forms and a highly durable material palette. To balance functionality with the site’s public-facing role, we integrated custom metal screens that conceal building services during the day, while transforming into illuminated beacons at night. The result is a pair of essential structures that provide both operational security and a welcoming, light-filled presence for thousands of daily commuters.
