Project Description
The Seasong Child Care’s child-centric design translates the rhythm of a toddler’s day into physical form. Eschewing rigid, “tidy” rectangles, the building’s deliberately off-grid arrangement reflects the fluid nature of play. By asking children to draw their daily activities, we used their “blocks of time” as the blueprint, mapping the floor plan to follow both their movements and the natural path of the sun. Carefully sited to create a welcoming human scale, the building acts as a protective acoustic buffer against a busy adjacent road while ensuring exterior play spaces remain bathed in light. This innovative approach prioritizes the intuitive flow of a child’s experience over institutional geometry.
