SFU Strand Hall

Originally constructed in 1971, Simon Fraser University’s Strand Hall had faced five decades of environmental and operational challenges—from severe thermal discomfort to a lack of acoustic privacy. In a deep collaboration with SFU, Public Architecture co-created a high-performance renewal that transforms the administrative heart of the campus. The design replaces a legacy of isolation with a sophisticated, collaborative environment for the University’s executive leadership and essential departments. By resolving complex ventilation and acoustic issues, the new space provides more than just physical comfort; it creates a “diplomatic landscape” that supports high-level interdepartmental relationships and offers a welcoming, professional atmosphere appropriate for the office’s global reach.
