Project Description

When a Fortune 500 tech giant needed to double its desk count, they traded their Yaletown loft for two floors of a downtown tower. Public Architecture was tasked with injecting character into this blank slate, translating complex technical requirements into warm, wood-finished lofts that prioritize the human experience. Eschewing traditional hierarchies, we “democratized the view,” ensuring the perimeter and natural light belong to everyone rather than being cordoned off for private offices. The design centers on four expansive “work lofts” that act as quiet, introspective anchors for 190 workstations. To balance this focus, we clustered high-energy collaboration spaces into the building’s idiosyncratic corners and outdoor podium decks. The material palette draws directly from Vancouver’s coastal forests, with Douglas fir cladding weaving from the core into a ceiling slat canopy.
